Experience
I was an Assistant Teacher for the Learning Labs at the Vertus Charter School in Rochester, NY. This job required helping the studies through many quizzes and activities in Math, English, and Science (but mostly math). All the students learned through computers in the learning labs. It was a very interesting experience because the school was just created so every week it was changing. I worked for the CAST department, where I took classes, and tutored/graded for multiple subjects involving engineering. I worked about 20 hours a week in the department helping students out with any course they were having problems with. Whenever I was not assisting students I was grading their homework and quizzes in multiple subjects. This helps save the teachers time and allows the graders to keep their brains sharp with past subjects. RIT requires their students to complete one year of Co-ops during their five years at the school. Because of this requirement I worked at Anaren, Cryomech, and TTCI. This was a great experience and one of the reasons I chose to go to RIT. In between semesters I got to experience what it was like to work as an engineer, so when I got back to school I knew I what I needed to learn and focus on to become a smarter and better employee. After three Co-ops, I worked on various projects that tested my skills with customers, presentations, lean manufacturing, drafting, problem solving, documentation, leadership, and mechanical design. Some of the classes I took at RIT include: Project Based Calculus I,II, and II, multivariate calculus, Statics, Strength in Materials, Materials, Technology, Failure Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer, Microeconomics, History, Digital Systems, Critical Thinking, Discrete Math, Physics, I, II, and III, Manufacturing processes, O-O programming, Dynamics of Machinery, Circuits/Electronics, computer science, electrical engineering, 5x psychology classes, Machine Design, Solidworks/GD&T, Statistics, Philosophy, Business, Chemistry, and Economics) At RIT I competed at an NCAA level for four years in cross country, indoor, and outdoor track. Through my four years I ran 17,000 miles and earned four All-american honors at the NCAA level. These are some of my most treasured accomplishments and memories of college. I was a team captain for two years and made it my goal to inspire the younger generations to improve to program I enjoyed running for.
