Experience
I enjoy tutoring because I know first hand how valuable one-on-one learning can be for a student. I strive to create individualized plans for each student so that they can improve both their confidence and their grades in difficult subjects. I was a tutor of ESL and French at the University of Denver's Center for World Languages and also tutored in the Learning Effectiveness Program for neurodiverse learners (Autism, ADD/ADHD) From my undergraduate experience, I had exposure to a variety of courses for my majors in French and Biochemistry but also took many classes outside of my disciplines to broaden my knowledge of different subjects. I minored in International Studies and was a member of the writing-intensive Honors Program, and enjoy helping students improve their academic writing capabilities. In high school, I took many AP courses and am familiar with both the strategy required and the content for World History, US History, Human Geography, English Language/Literature, Biology, and French Language and Culture (all of which I scored 4 or 5 on). Additionally, I am familiar with the ACT (33), the PSAT and SAT Subject Tests. I lived in France for a year and a half and am passionate about the French language. It is my favorite subject to teach as I believe learning a foreign language opens up the world in a way that no other subject can. I am not a native speaker, so I understand the difficulties students have while learning and have spent a significant amount of time learning about the common "traps" students fall into while trying to learn. Finally, my background in the sciences is quite diverse as for my Biochemistry major I took both Inorganic and Organic Chemistry, Biology, and Physics. I enjoy science and research and want to share this passion with others.
