Education

In 2015, I graduated from the University of Notre Dame with my Master's degree in Structural Engineering. While at Notre Dame, I studied deployable bridge design and dynamic structures. Another large component of my work at Notre Dame was writing the curriculum for and helping to teach an outreach program for young women at a high school STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) magnet program in the South Bend area. The program, called BRIDGES, is still taught using my original lesson plans, and educates young women on the scientific, mathematic, and design principles of structural engineering. Prior to attending Notre Dame, I received my bachelor's degree in Architectural Engineering with Honors at CU Boulder.

Experience

Most of my life has been involved math and science education, through one means or another. My mother is a teacher, and as soon as I was old enough, she helped me get involved in montorship programs to help students in younger grades learn to read, write, and perform math. In high school, I tutored younger classmen in writing, algebra, and gemoetry. When I got to CU Boulder, I worked with the local MESA program to teach math in interactive and engaging ways to low-income schools during after-school programs. I also participated in CU's education prep courses, Step I and Step II, where I wrote and taught educational units on math and science topics. When in graduate school, I wrote the curriculum for and was lead educator for the BRIDGES program mentioned above. I have also taken on individual private tutoring clients since 2009. SAT: 2100 ACT: 35 I have always enjoyed tutoring and teaching. I feel that it not only allows students an opportunity to succeed academically where otherwise they might not, but it also gives them the confidence they need to tackle new problems on their own. Relevant Coursework: Step 1 and Step 2 (education courses) Algebra Geometry Trigonometry Calculus I, II, and III Differential Equations English Literature English Language Critical Encounters (college course in literature and philosophy) I also spent several years writing for the local paper in Santa Fe, New Mexico and so have quite a bit of experience with writing and editing.

Hobbies

I am a structural engineer in Boulder, CO with a penchant for baking and a love of literature. My mother is a lifelong educator, so most of my life has been spent amidst the varied worlds of education. When not studying, I spend my time reading, cooking, rock climbing, and snow boarding. I passionately believe that when a person feels that they are "bad" at a specific subject, it just hasn't been taught to them correctly. I enjoy opening those doors.
