Areas of my expertise include materials research, essential oil extraction, building fluorescent dyes, and oligonucleotide synthesis. Teaching Experience: I have tutored 51 students on the finer points of general and organic chemistry totaling more than 330 hours. During my time in grad school, I served as a teaching assistant for General Chemistry 1 & 2, and for Organic Chemistry 1 & 2 on several occasions. Acting as the lead TA for Org Chem 2, I taught the 120 student lecture on five occasions when the instructor was absent. My masters course work included Physical Organic Chemistry, Advanced Organic Synthesis, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance, Solar Energy, and Materials Chemistry classes. My teaching score from FCQ's (teaching review surveys) was 5.8 out of 6, and substantially higher than both the Chemistry department and campus wide averages.

Hobbies
I am a home brewer and love to create delicious new combinations of malt, water, yeast, and hops. I have discovered that there are many interesting types of hops that are not used in either commercial or micro brewing, and they make fantastic beer. I enjoy trail running and biking. I am in training for my first marathon which I will run in 2018.
