Dan D.
Private tutor in Boulder, CO
Education
University of Utah. Over 3.5 GPA Spanish Major, I've been studying Spanish since 9th grade; I am currently in the process of preparing for the DELE level C1 exam. The Diploma in Spanish as a Foreign Language (DELE) is a world recognized official qualification certifying the degree of competence and mastery of Spanish. The C1 level indicates more than an advanced level of Spanish wherein the holder of the diploma shows linguistic competence to: 1) understand a wide variety of long, demanding texts and their implicit meanings; 2) express themselves fluently and spontaneously; 3) use the language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes; 4) and be able to produce clear, detailed, well structured texts on complex topics. The University of Salamanca in Spain collaborates with the Cervantes Institute in designing exam papers and grading the tests leading to the diploma. I am very proficient at conversing and writing in Spanish, as well as at reading Spanish literature at the highest level. I also trained as an ESL instructor in the Intercambio organization, Boulder, CO;
Experience
I have tutored students at the college level, high school level, and, I have taught my own son since he was very young. He is now a recent college graduate with high honors in International Relations and a straight "A" average in all of his Spanish classes, since middle school, thanks in large part to our learning sessions when he was a youngster. In addition, I was hired by colleagues at the University of Utah to accompany families to Mexico City, to be their translator. I am passionate about Spanish! Students will receive quality, reliable, patient and effective instruction with deep and personal attention to the student's needs. Methods of instruction will be thorough, fun and informative. Pronunciation, conversation, grammar, reading, writing and everyday language usage will be covered as needed. Fun and valuable web links, recordings, and exercises will be offered to assist the student with self study. "Daniel is the best teacher! He is warm, sharp, patient, inspiring, witty and encouraging. Learning from him has been a delightful and effective experience." Joaquin G.
