I like the one-on-one learning environment because it allows a kind of individual attention and safety that the classroom rarely provides. I love the experience of watching a student improve session after session, and gain the confidence he or she needs to write successful essays without fear of failure. As an English and Creative Writing major, I have taken all variety of literature and writing courses at Colgate University. In my writing classes in particular, I learned how to target areas for improvement and give constructive criticism to peers in the often scary and difficult process of sharing their work. July 201l-December 2011: work in book publishing for a prestigious literary agency in New York, NY, where I'm afforded the unique opportunity of contributing input to the manuscripts of our high-profile clients. September 2011-December 2011: freelance tutor every day after work for two high school seniors who are working on their college application essays (and any other academic essays with which they need help).
